Star Wars the Old Republic Jedi Knight : Progression Guide
Bioware has not released an official skill tree for the Jedi class, we have been treated to a few sneak peak videos which show a fair amount about the class. We also know the some other key pieces of information surrounding the class, such as specializations, that grant further insight into how the class can best be used. Keep in mind this is a preemptive Star Wars the Old Republic Jedi Knight : Progression Guide, and is largely a collection of thoughts on where the class skills seem to be leading.
First lets examine the outfitting of the Jedi Knight. The holonet states that many Jedi Knights wear heavy armor in combat. Combine this with the combat tactics section of the holonet which states their roles as either defending allies from blaster bolts or charging Sith Lords. Then we have to take into account what we can see in the teaser videos that have been released, and from what I’m seeing it seems like a fairly certain bet that they are mirrors to the Sith Lord.
In this Star Wars the Old Republic Jedi Knight : Progression Guide, though it may be a bit early, I’m going to recommend you lean towards the Guardian specialization for leveling. The sentinel specializes in wielding two lightsabers at once, versus the guardian who “dares opponents to attack”. We can extrapolate that the sentinel is the damage dealing variation of the Jedi Knight class. As a damage dealer a sentinel is going to be better able to more quickly eliminate threats they encounter alone. If you are instancing, or working consistently in a group or guild, then a guardian could prove a stronger choice. Also if you aren’t concerned with leveling up as quickly as possible, the Guardian could prove much more survivable character. Even though damage per second classes have historically been quicker levelers in past MMORPGs that is no guarantee that the Old Republic Jedi Knight will fall into the same mold.
At this point your best bet is to keep your eyes open for news and wait for a future Star Wars the Old Republic Jedi Knight : Progression Guide, one that will be released the second Bioware releases a little more information on the class.

SWTOR Jedi Knight Class: In the Game and Elsewhere

The SWTOR Jedi Knight class promises to be one of the all time great MMORPG classes around once the game is released. However, since the game won’t be out for a while, there is little to be said about the actual game itself besides how much praise is already being heaped on it. The SWTOR leveling is sure to be a fine example of the massively multiplayer online genre. The conflict between the Jedi and the Sith, nevertheless, is wholly timeless. Anything that deals with this immortal battle is sure to light up the hearts of SWTOR Jedi Knight fans, or harden the hearts of fans of the Sith.
Not everything is known about the game at the moment, but there have been several things to clue us into the story. Long before the Treaty of Corucscant, great warriors battled to ensure that history was set on the right path. However, it was no far-gone conclusion, according to the Dark House produced Internet comic Blood of the Empire. Alexander Freed, BioWare’s senior writer, is writing it. Another web comic by Dark house reached its conclusion in March 2010. The Old Republic developer Rob Chestney wrote this story, Threat of Peace.
Either of these provides an interesting look at what the SWTOR’s class could be in the future. As the game is set for release in 2011, fans will have to be satiated by this ancillary media until that time. From this, however, a few points as to what gameplay will be like might be ascertained. If one takes the perspective that the Old Republic is being shaped at this time, then the Jedi class player will face a few interesting challenges. For instance, instead of simply being up against a stronger opponent, the Jedi might be trying to gain equal footing with the Sith.
It would certainly be a fascinating twist if more of a deception aspect were added to SWTOR. This might make it so that the Jedi player functions something like a secret agent. The Jedi Knight character could have a game play model that causes them to try and hide their actions. Of course, it might seem that playing as a sort of assassin totally goes against everything that fans know about these honorable warriors. Nevertheless, it’s important to remember that this is a much earlier age, and that the game play might take a very different angle than what’s expected.
With the inclusion of Darth Revan, it seems the game will probably fill in a few gaps in the history of the Star wars timeline. Only real time will tell, however. Nevertheless, the game was rumored to have a budget of over $300 million, and promises to be brilliant.
